Microsoft’s Answer to the iPad?
Microsoft has released more information on the Courier, a tablet-like device with two screens that they announced in September. Structured like a book, or journal, it folds in half to be more mobile than, say, an iPad. It uses a stylus-like pen and recognizes handwriting in addition to whatever you can draw out. The video they've released that shows what the Courier will be capable of suggest that it will be very useful for visual based work such as graphic design, art, etc.
It's shrunk since it was first announced, such that it will be about an inch thick and not much bigger than 5 x 7 inches, and weigh a little over a pound. It seems like Microsoft is really emphasizing mobility with this product in an effort to set it apart from all of the other tablets springing up as of late.
The first video in the source link shows a woman doing some design work; finding textures, color schemes, and compiling all the material she needs to create a new line of furniture. The second shows off a lot of the proposed unique functionalities that the Courier will feature, as a user pieces together bits and pieces for sneaker design. Both are really interesting, and although it isn't actual footage, it looks really promising.
